NEWS FROM SUE

SUNDAY SCHOOL

It is finally here! Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) blasts off tomorrow morning, July 19! Our payload is at full capacity with 30 cadets ready to go on an exciting mission to learn more about our Amazing, Awesome God. Our astronaut crew of teenagers have been fully trained, have prepared an awesome mission control station, and are ready to lead our cadets into space. Thanks to all who helped decorate mission control last Tuesday: Karen and Kenzie Allison, Steve and Graham Halverson, Cathy and Ina-Marie Silverness, Maren Hustad, Ingrid Holstrom, Solveig Rennan, and Ian Bouschor. Thanks also to everyone who donated decorations for our space flight and to the office angels for helping in preparing some of the supplies. If you do not have a cadet taking our space flight, please feel free to stop in to see mission control before you leave church today. (HOWEVER- PARENTS, PLEASE DO NOT LET CADETS IN THE HALL TO SEE MISSION CONTROL TODAY!  WE WANT IT TO BE A SURPRISE FOR TOMORROW MORNING!)

  • Thanks in advance to all our teen astronauts for all their hard work training and pouring over the instruction manuals as part of our preflight preparations:  Manilan Houle, Kenzie Allison, Ina-Marie Silverness, Sarah Lyle, Ingrid Holstrom, Jessie and Graham Halverson, Solveig Rennan and Ian Bouschor and to adult astronauts Sally Rogers and Trish Marcinel.

  • Cadets- you all received your preflight instructions in the mail this past week, so take a minute to look the letter over before coming tomorrow morning and remember your water bottle, change of clothes and comfortable shoes.

  • Parents of Cadets-use the Greysolon Road door to drop off and pick up your child each day.  The door will always remain locked, so please use the black buzzer to be let in each day.  If you signed up for early drop off- you can do so beginning at 8am each day.  All other cadets can between 8:45-9:00am to start each day's mission.  Kids will be ready for departure at noon each day.  Friday is our that includes a program and lunch for all family members beginning at 11:45pm in mission control.

Nursery:
Additional room:
We have set up a gate in the room right across the hall from the nursery.  Because we currently have a large number of kids using the nursery, (which is a wonderful thing!!) if it becomes crowded and/or if any of the older 2-3 year olds get aggressive, or need some separation time from the other kids, one of the attendants on duty will take the child/children into that room with a few toys and books and watch them there.  Our nursery is a beautiful space but it can be difficult sometimes with infants crawling around the floor to have the older 2-3 year olds playing.   Our main concern is the safety of all the kids, so if a child throws a toy, or is aggressive towards another child, then removal of that child(ren) into the other room will occur, and if needed, the parent will be contacted  to come to the nursery.

Policy Reminder for Parents:
Just a reminder to all parents who use the nursery. Our policy is that if a child is crying and can’t be comforted for more than 5-10 minutes at the most, the parent will be contacted and needs to come to the nursery.  We do not have the one on one staffing that a distressed child needs, nor the space to allow a crying child to continue and upset the other children in the nursery.
