A religious ceremony inside a church where a person in red and gold vestments, likely a bishop, is performing a blessing or confirmation by placing a hand on a young woman's head. A small group of people, including women and elders, stands around them in a supportive gesture.

Congratulations to Agnes

Please join St. Paul’s in congratulating Agnes Barthel for winning the Karin Larson Classical Music Prize from Minnesota Public Radio. Agnes learned to play the organ here at St. Paul’s from Tom Hamilton, and you’ve heard her play several times in worship. Thank you to everyone from St. Paul’s who voted and supported her. You can hear Agnes’ on air response at the link above.

In Loving Memory

Friday, August 1, 2025

Please join us to celebrate the lives of Beryl Pettigrew and his son, James Pettigrew. Gather with the family at the 10:00 am visitation in the Church, the memorial service at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall.

James Pettigrew was born in Duluth in 1967 and graduated from Duluth East HS in 1985. He lived in San Francisco with his husband, Sean Stout, and operated a landscape design and gardening business. Beryl Pettigrew was born in Leon, Iowa to Cyrus Benton Pettigrew and Sylvia Caldwell Pettigrew. Throughout his full life, music was his passion – as a violinist or violist in orchestras and chamber groups, as a conductor, as a teacher, and as an ardent concert-goer. His memory lives on as we send him off to play in the “Big Orchestra” with a final “Bravo, Maestro!” Contributions in Beryl’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.

We Practice a Faith Rooted In Love, Curiosity, Hope, and Service

St. Paul’s is a faith community shaped around ancient practices of Christian worship that include prayer, song, study, and celebration. We believe that God’s love extends to all, and that Christ’s table is set for all who are hungry.
