A religious ceremony inside a church where a person in red and gold vestments, likely a bishop, is performing a blessing or confirmation by placing a hand on a young woman's head. A small group of people, including women and elders, stands around them in a supportive gesture.

Adult Faith Formation

Bible Study, Christian Spirituality Small Group and More

We believe that Christian Formation is for everyone!
We frequently host Bible Study groups, New Member groups and Book Study groups. Our next Book Study group is discussing The Book of Joy, by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Fridays, starting April 24, 10:00 am, in the Olcott Room.

Another Bible Study group is studying the Prophets, with the Rev. Sue Sommer. The Old Testament gives us a wealth of other prophetic voices, all of whom spoke words not their own to leaders who did not want to hear it.
Thursdays, 10:00 am, in the Olcott Room.

For more information, please contact Maggie at rector@stpaulsduluth.org.

Rummage Sale and Bake Sale

Saturday, May 2, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

Please join us for another amazing rummage sale and bake sale to benefit St. Paul’s mission and its outreach ministries. Volunteers will set up and price items from April 27 through May 1.

Addressing Medical Debt in Duluth

Working with an organization called Undue Medical Debt, we can erase the medical debts of our neighbors. Defaulted debt is often sold by hospitals to debt collectors for pennies on the dollar. Undue uses donations to purchase this debt on the market, and rather than collecting the debt, they erase it. On average, $10 given to Undue can erase $1,000 of debt. St. Paul’s has the opportunity to abolish medical debt locally in St. Louis County. This is an opportunity to make an enormous impact with a relatively small amount of money.

In this way, we can honor our legacy as the builder of St. Luke’s Hospital and make a very real impact in the lives of this community. https://www.northernnewsnow.com/2026/04/04/duluth-church-collect-easter-offerings-help-erase-medical-debt/

Wednesday, May 6 — Julian of Norwich, Through Fiction

Julian of Norwich was a 14th century reclusive mystic in England. She had powerful visions of God’s love, and dared to write it down in English, making her the first female author of a book in English. She was an anchoress, a kind of medieval religious life where a person is sealed into one room to live out a life of prayer. On May 6 we will explore her story through a powerful novel written by Claire Gilbert, I Julian. This novel helps a modern person explore the faith, curiosity, grief, and courage of this powerful woman who lived in a very different way to us. Please join us to discuss Julian and the novel. A limited number of copies can be purchased from the Parish Office.

Wednesday, May 20 — Backpacking with the Saints

To wrap up our series on the saints and to prepare to enjoy the outdoors this summer, we take a look at a spiritual memoir by an author who brought the saints along on his wilderness adventures. We’ll share a PDF copy of the chapter we’d like to discuss ahead of time. Participants can purchase the book and continue reading over the summer.

We Practice a Faith Rooted In Love, Curiosity, Hope, and Service

St. Paul’s is a faith community shaped around ancient practices of Christian worship that include prayer, song, study, and celebration. We believe that God’s love extends to all, and that Christ’s table is set for all who are hungry.
