A religious ceremony inside a church where a person in red and gold vestments, likely a bishop, is performing a blessing or confirmation by placing a hand on a young woman's head. A small group of people, including women and elders, stands around them in a supportive gesture.

Blessing of the Animals

Sunday, October 6 we are celebrating St. Francis of Assisi. A famous lover of animals, St. Francis cared for all God’s creation. In his honor we welcome animals to church for a special blessing. You’re welcome to bring your pets to church (on a leash or carrier) to join in our worship service. (Pictures are welcome if your pet has passed or is not comfortable in crowds.)

The Spirituality of Caring for Animals

Wednesday Church Night has started back up again. Our next forum will be The Spirituality of Caring for Animals on October 9. A panel of church members will share their stories of how relationships with pets or other animals have shaped their spiritual lives. Please join us in the Parish Hall at 6:30 pm. A simple supper will be served at 6:00 pm and a simple Eucharist will be held in the sanctuary at 5:15 pm.

Join Deacon Pat in this summer read of John Mark Comer’s book, Practicing the Way, recommended by The Rt. Rev. Craig Loya, X Bishop of ECMN. Description of book: Feel like there’s more to life? You’re right! Best-selling author Comer unpacks God’s vision for the journey of our souls; reveals obstacles holding us back from authentically following Christ; and suggests countercultural spiritual practices–like hospitality, simplicity, and community–that can connect us with a vibrant, lifelong faith. Rethink your assumptions about discipleship and embrace apprenticeship under Jesus. A follow up small group will begin on September 18 to do the Practicing the Way Rule of Life Course.

We Practice a Faith Rooted In Love, Curiosity, Hope, and Service

St. Paul’s is a faith community shaped around ancient practices of Christian worship that include prayer, song, study, and celebration. We believe that God’s love extends to all, and that Christ’s table is set for all who are hungry.
